Common Components To Car Sound Systems
Many people take the stereo in their car for granted. Some want to make it sound as great as possible. Whichever type of person you are, you should know what the most common parts are to Car Sound Systems. The most basic car stereo consists of a head unit and speakers. However there are more parts to good systems.
The head unit is the part of the stereo system that you can see and is often installed in the dashboard of your vehicle. The head unit is how you control your stereo and often contains multiple components. It typically has an AM/FM tuner. Some older models have a cassette player while newer ones have CD players. Some may even have a DVD player.
Speakers are an integral part of all Car Sound Systems. Without speakers, you and your passengers would never hear the music that you all love. There are typically four speakers in a car. The most common installation places are in each of the front doors and behind the back seat. Some systems, especially the 7.1 stereo systems, have additional speakers in other locations such as the dash or kick panel.
Car amplifiers are another component to good sound systems. Some head units have an amp built in but they may not be strong enough or have the external controls you want. The most common place to mount a car amp is in the truck. That's why a lot of sub-woofers are also mounted in the trunk, they need the amp to power them properly.
Which brings us to sub-woofers. These are used for the low frequency, or bass, in the vehicle. Some standard car stereos don't provide enough bass so you would want to install a sub-woofer to enhance it. Sub-woofers come in sizes ranging from 8 inches to 32 inches. The larger sizes aren't as widely used as an 8 or 10 inch sub-woofer.
These are just the most common of the components needed for Car Sound Systems. There are others and it is best to have a professional install your sound system. They will be able to suggest the right size amp and sub-woofer for your car and wants.
